Kundalini Yoga is a yoga of health and radiance for body, mind and spirit. It was brought to the west by Yogi Bhajan from India. “The totality of all yogas is Kundalini Yoga, the yoga of awareness, the yoga of consciousness.” – Yogi Bhajan
Kundalini Yoga is a non-stressful way to promote flexibility, cardiovascular capability, weight and stress management, to cultivate energy, serenity, personal power and spiritual awakening. Its dynamic blend of breathing, movement, stretching, meditation, mantras and relaxation will enable you to look great, feel great, relax, enjoy life and live in grace and gratitude.
It works safely on every aspect of your body, mind, emotions and spirit. Kundalini Yoga facilitates the flow of pranic and spiritual (psychic) energy, in particular along the spinal energy channels and through the chakras.
We wear white as the preferred the color as it is the infinite of all colors and is psychologically uplifting. We cover our head with a cotton cloth so the energy does not dissipate and stays within us.
We silently chant an internal mantra Sat Nam which means Truth is my identity. As we inhale the sound of Sat and exhale the sound of Nam we are connecting to that place of truth, peace and oneness within.
We start every class or meditation by chanting the Adi Mantra 3 times:
We finish each class with a beautiful blessing that we sing:
Sit with a straight spine. Block off your right nostril with your right thumb, fingers pointing straight up and breathe deeply through the left nostril for up to 3 minutes or longer if you wish. When you have finished breathe deeply through both nostrils and meditate for a few minutes.
